The best Korean skincare brands

These five brands represent the excellence of K-Beauty according to precise criteria: proven effectiveness, formulas without irritating ingredients, and massive adoption by the global skincare community.

Beauty of Joseon targets skin seeking radiance and anti-aging prevention: its Relief Sun is the K-Beauty sun protection benchmark in France.

COSRX caters to blemish-prone and combination skin: its BHA and snail mucin formulas treat without drying.

SKIN1004 is the brand for sensitive and reactive skin: 100% centella asiatica, fragrance-free, alcohol-free.

Medicube is for mature skin looking for clinical results: PDRN, collagen, connected skincare devices.

Anua is the heartleaf specialist for oily and acne-prone skin: effective without the usual irritation of anti-acne treatments.

The 10-Step Korean Skincare Routine

The 10-step Korean routine isn't mandatory; it's a framework. Few people apply all 10 steps every night. The principle is to layer products from lightest to thickest, allowing each layer to absorb before the next.

Morning: cleansing oil if needed, cleanser, toner, serum, moisturizer, SPF50+ sunscreen.

Evening: double cleanse if you wear makeup or SPF, toner, essence, serum, mask 1-2 times a week, night cream. Oily skin can skip heavy cream and ampoule. Dry skin will benefit more from toner, essence, and mask steps. Sensitive skin should avoid exfoliating more than once a week.

In practice, 4 steps are enough to start: cleanser, serum, moisturizer, sunscreen. You add steps according to your goals and skin type.

Learn more about Korean skincare

Korean skincare, also known as K-Beauty, is a facial care approach originating in South Korea, now acclaimed worldwide. Its founding principle: prevent rather than correct. Where Western cosmetics treat problems once they appear, K-Beauty builds healthy skin in the long term through daily care, light textures, and targeted active ingredients.

The ingredients that define K-Beauty: centella asiatica to soothe, heartleaf to regulate sebum, ginseng for radiance, snail mucin for regeneration, niacinamide to even out skin tone, PDRN for firmness. Minimalist formulas, often fragrance-free and alcohol-free, that respect the skin barrier instead of attacking it.

Why is Korean skincare more effective?

Not magically more effective: more effective because Korean brands invest heavily in R&D and reformulate their products much faster than European brands. COSRX, Beauty of Joseon, Anua, or SKIN1004 release innovations every 12 to 18 months, tested in very demanding markets before arriving in France.

The second advantage: textures. Watery serums, light essences, non-occlusive gel-creams, formulas that suit combination to oily skin, often poorly served by conventional cosmetics.

Is Korean skincare expensive?

No. In fact, it's one of its major strengths. The best K-Beauty products range between €12 and €30, with formulas that rival French skincare products costing €60-€80. The reason: Korean brands sell massive volumes internationally and can maintain accessible prices without compromising on ingredient quality. A Beauty of Joseon serum at €16.90 or a COSRX Snail Cream at €19.90 are among the best value for money/efficacy on the market.

Is K-Beauty available in pharmacies?

Some K-Beauty products are gradually arriving in pharmacies and at Sephora, but the selection remains very limited, a few COSRX or Beauty of Joseon references at most. To access all ranges, new products, and direct importer prices, specialized e-commerce sites like Holy Skin remain the best channel. All our products are stocked in Bordeaux and shipped within 24 hours.

Is Korean skincare suitable for all skin types?

Yes. This is even one of the major advantages of K-Beauty: each brand offers ranges for different skin types. Oily or acne-prone skin: heartleaf, BHA, niacinamide. Dry or dehydrated skin: snail mucin, ceramides, hyaluronic acid. Mature skin: ginseng, retinol, PDRN. Sensitive skin: centella asiatica, cica, fragrance-free formulas. If you don't know your skin type yet, our free diagnosis will guide you in 2 minutes.

Does Korean skincare work on European skin?

Yes, and it's well documented. The French skincare community has massively adopted K-Beauty since 2020, with visible results on all phototypes. Korean formulas, initially developed for Asian skin which is often sensitive and reactive, adapt particularly well to the combination, oily, and sensitive skin types common in Europe. Very dry skin benefits from snail mucin and ceramide formulas. Mature skin benefits from ginseng and PDRN ranges.

The Korean Skincare & K-Beauty Blog

K-Beauty is evolving rapidly. New brands, new ingredients, new routines – the Holy Skin blog is updated weekly to provide you with reliable, verified information, without disguised sponsored content.

We cover topics that other sites don't truly explain: how PDRN works in facial care, why heartleaf is more effective than tea tree for acne-prone skin, how to read a Korean ingredient list, what the real difference is between an essence and a toner. Content written by skincare enthusiasts, not by algorithms.
