Korean Face Cleanser

The Korean cleansing gel maintains its texture until rinsing: it cleanses effectively without excessive lathering, which limits the risk of stripping sensitive or dry skin. Formulated with a low pH, it better respects the hydrolipidic film than a classic foam produced with sulfated surfactants.

The Korean cleansing foam produces more lather, but this does not mean it cleanses better: the abundance of foam is linked to the surfactants used, not to the cleaning efficacy. Modern Korean formulas use mild surfactants (cocoyl glutamate, lauryl glucoside) that produce less lather but respect the skin microbiome. The choice between the two primarily depends on the desired sensation and skin type.

Yes, but the choice of cleanser may differ depending on the time of day. In the evening, if you already use a Korean cleansing oil as the first step of a double cleanse, the water-based cleanser can be gentler as oil-soluble impurities have already been dissolved. In the morning, a light, low-pH gel cleanser is sufficient to remove overnight sebum without irritating freshly awakened skin.

Dry skin types can limit themselves to a simple cold water rinse in the morning. Oily skin types benefit from a complete cleanse morning and night. In all cases, avoid very hot water: it dilates pores and worsens skin dehydration, regardless of the cleanser used.

A cleanser alone does not treat acne, but it can worsen or prevent it depending on its formula. A cleanser with a pH that is too highor too harsh alters the skin barrier and promotes the proliferation of the acne-causing bacteria P. acnes. A cleanser with a low pH respects the skin's environment and limits this risk.

Korean cleansers formulated with salicylic acid(BHA) go further: they dissolve sebum plugs in pores from the cleansing step. The first effects on active blemishes are visible within 3 to 4 weeksof daily use. It is not an anti-acne treatment in the clinical sense, but an effective first step before adding a targeted serum.

Double cleansing combines an oil cleanser as the first step, to dissolve SPF, sebum, and makeup, followed by a water-based cleanser, such as those in this selection, to remove remaining water-soluble impurities. This second step determines the final comfort: a low-pH cleanser prevents the tight sensation often left by the initial oil cleansing step.

The complete protocol, including the gestures and massage time for each step, is detailed in our double cleansing facial guide.

A good cleanser doesn't transform skin on its own, but it conditions the effectiveness of the entire routine. From the very first days, skin feels better balanced after cleansing, without the tight sensation characteristic of overly alkaline cleansers. Within 2 to 3 weeks, oily skin often observes more stable sebum regulation throughout the day.

Regarding acne and pores, Korean cleanser contributes to the results but doesn't act alone: it prepares the ground for the targeted active ingredients that follow in the routine (exfoliating toner, BHA serum, treatment cream). Consider it the foundation that makes other steps more effective, not a standalone miracle product.
