Korean Face Mask

A standard Korean sheet mask uses a cotton or fiber sheet impregnated with serum to deliver various active ingredients (hydration, radiance, soothing). A Korean collagen mask like the Biodance uses pure biocellulose or hydrolyzed collagen as a base, which significantly improves adhesion to the face and the penetration of active ingredients into the superficial layers of the epidermis.

In practice, collagen masks are thicker, heavier, and require a slightly longer application time to be effective. Their unit cost is also higher (between 4 and 8 euros for premium references vs. 1 to 3 euros for classic sheet masks). The plumping effect is more pronounced and immediate with collagen masks than with standard sheet masks.

Korean sheet masks are used 1 to 3 times a week as needed. For maintenance, once a week is sufficient. During periods of very dehydrated skin, stress, or after sun exposure, two to three weekly applications are justified without risk of overstimulation.

Wash-off masks like the Red Bean Mask are used 1 to 2 times a week maximum, in the evening, after double cleansing. Sleeping masks can be used up to 3 times a week as the final layer of your routine; they are not rinsed off and act as a light occlusive mask during sleep. Never layer a sheet mask and a sleeping mask on the same evening.

The immediate effect, visible from the very first application, concerns radiance and surface hydration: the skin appears smoother, more luminous, with a noticeable "plumped" effect to the touch. This effect generally lasts 24 to 48 hours.

Long-term results, particularly on firmness, texture, and pores, require regular use for 4 to 8 weeks. A collagen mask used once a week for 6 weeks shows significant results on skin density according to tolerance studies carried out on biocellulose formats. Regularity takes precedence over occasional high frequency.

Yes, and in a precise order. The sheet mask or collagen mask is applied after the toner or essence, before the cream. After the mask, massage the residual serum onto the face without rinsing, then apply your usual moisturizer to seal in the active ingredients. Do not apply Korean serum before the mask: this creates a barrier that reduces the penetration of the mask's active ingredients.

For wash-off masks, the protocol is different: apply after double cleansing, leave on, rinse, then resume your usual routine starting with the toner. Never apply a purifying mask (kaolin, red bean) to skin that has just received an exfoliating active ingredient like an AHA, as this overloads skin tolerance and can cause lasting redness.

Moisturizing fabric masks (hyaluronic acid, centella, ferments without retinol or AHA) are generally compatible with pregnancy. Biocellulose collagen masks are also well tolerated, as collagen does not pass the skin barrier topically.

To avoid during pregnancy: masks containing retinol, high concentrations of AHAs, vitamin A in all its forms, and certain essential oils (camphor, strong menthol).
