Leaf Cosmetics: Our Honest Review of the Bio-Collagen Mask

Leaf Cosmetics is all the rage, but customer reviews and a Que Choisir investigation raise serious questions.

Leaf Cosmetics : notre avis honnête sur le masque bio-collagène

Leaf Cosmetics is taking social media by storm with its "bio-collagen" mask, marketed as an anti-aging treatment. However, between alarming customer reviews on Trustpilot, an investigation by Que Choisir, and questions regarding the brand's legal status, the reality is more nuanced than the advertisements suggest. Here is our honest take and what we recommend instead.

What exactly is Leaf Cosmetics? 🔍

Leaf Cosmetics is an American brand (a LLC registered in Wyoming, USA) that sells a collagen face mask in France, marketed as an intensive anti-aging treatment. The brand is distributed almost exclusively through its own website and social media ads.

What their legal notices do not highlight: because the company is registered outside the European Union, under US law, it is not subject to the same consumer protection obligations as a French e-commerce business. In the event of a dispute, the practical recourse for a French customer is extremely limited.

The flagship product, the "bio-collagen" mask, is sold for around 6 euros, depending on offers. The brand actively promotes spectacular before-and-after results and testimonials from "dermatologists," without ever having provided published clinical studies to support its claims.

What customer reviews really reveal 📊

Leaf Cosmetics has a 3.3/5 rating on Trustpilot with over 2,700 reviews, placing the brand in the "average" category. Looking closer at the reviews, two problems consistently arise.

The first concerns undelivered orders. Many recent reviews (January to April 2026) report orders that were paid for but never shipped, despite repeated inquiries. The carrier used, Colis Privé, is itself often blamed for these delays. Customer service is only reachable via an online form, with no phone number, which significantly complicates any resolution.

The second concerns the actual effectiveness of the product. In verified reviews, feedback is very divided: some customers describe hydrated and smoothed skin on the surface, while others note no visible change to deep wrinkles after multiple uses. The "immediate moisturizing" effect often described is not unique to collagen, but to any occlusive treatment left on the face for several hours.

Expert advice: A common mistake is attributing wrinkle-filling effects to topically applied collagen. Collagen molecules are too large to penetrate the skin barrier. The perceived hydration comes from the occlusiveness of the mask, not from the active ingredient itself. For a true collagen treatment, it is better to turn to active ingredients that stimulate natural synthesis, such as retinol or bakuchiol.

The Que Choisir investigation: points of concern 📋

Que Choisir published a detailed investigation into Leaf Cosmetics in 2024, pointing out several serious issues. They are summarized here factually.

The brand claims a "bio-collagen" label without that term having a regulatory definition. In France and Europe, an "organic" (bio) claim on a cosmetic product must be certified (Cosmos Organic, Ecocert, or equivalent). This is not the case here, which intentionally fosters confusion with certified organic cosmetics.

The site's clinical claims ("we don't promise results, we prove them") were not supported by studies provided to Que Choisir despite their explicit request. The dermatologist cited on the site, identified only as "Hélène S.," could not be contacted, and her portrait matches a stock photo used by several different websites.

Finally, the brand's website is almost perpetually "on sale" with countdown timers, a dark pattern technique that creates artificial buying urgency.

The Korean collagen mask: a different approach 🌿

If the idea of a collagen mask interests you, it is useful to understand why Korean formulations approach the ingredient differently.

Faced with the ambiguity surrounding the traceability and legal status of the Leaf mask, there is a Korean alternative whose composition and manufacturing are clearly documented. The Biodance Bio-Collagen Real Deep Mask uses low molecular weight bio-fermented collagen, formulated for deep hydration and an immediate plumping effect, with a complete and accessible INCI list. It is the type of mask that checks the same boxes as the sought-after bio-collagen, but with added transparency. You can view the Biodance mask product page to see its composition in detail.

Serious K-Beauty brands do not market collagen as a miracle active capable of "filling wrinkles from the outside." Instead, they use it as a film-forming moisturizing agent, in addition to active ingredients whose effectiveness is clinically documented: niacinamide (improvement in radiance in 4 to 8 weeks according to published studies), multi-molecular weight hyaluronic acid, or peptides that stimulate internal collagen synthesis.

The Korean collagen sheet mask (like those from Biodance) is formulated for combined action: the occlusive aspect hydrates deeply during application, while the complementary actives penetrate in an optimal environment. This is a different skincare logic than a direct anti-wrinkle promise.

Our verdict on Leaf Cosmetics 🎯

Leaf Cosmetics is not a scam in the strict sense: some customers do receive their orders and describe a positive experience, particularly regarding immediate hydration. However, several recurring signals make the brand difficult to recommend for French shoppers.

Delivery problems are documented and repeated in 2025 and 2026. Customer service is practically inaccessible. The legal structure (Wyoming LLC) places the brand outside the framework of European consumer protection. And the marketing claims rely on foundations that did not withstand the scrutiny of Que Choisir.

If the goal is an intensive anti-aging or moisturizing mask treatment, more transparent Korean alternatives exist at comparable prices, within a European legal framework and with managed delivery times.

Three things to remember before any purchase:

  1. Collagen applied topically does not penetrate the skin; the hydrating effect of an occlusive mask comes from its format, not from the ingredient itself.
  2. A non-EU brand does not guarantee you the same rights as a European seller in the event of non-delivery or non-conforming products.
  3. Constant promotions with countdown timers are a documented dark pattern technique, not the sign of a truly limited offer.

Leaf cosmétiques : ARNAQUE

Merci pour votre étude!

Julie Canicatti

Entreprise frauduleuse a fuir

FAQ: Leaf Cosmetics: Our Honest Review of the Bio-Collagen Mask

checkbox

Is the Leaf Cosmetics website reliable?

Leaf Cosmetics is a US LLC registered in Wyoming, outside of European jurisdiction. French consumers do not have access to the 14-day right of withdrawal guaranteed by EU legislation and have very limited recourse in the event of a dispute.

In addition, Trustpilot lists numerous reports of unfulfilled orders with no response from customer service. The brand is not recommended in its current state for buyers in France.

checkbox

Do collagen masks really work?

Collagen masks effectively moisturize due to their occlusive action: they maintain a humid environment on the skin during application, which promotes the absorption of complementary active ingredients.

However, collagen applied topically does not penetrate the skin barrier, as its molecules are too large. The immediate smoothing effect is real but temporary.

To stimulate deep collagen synthesis, active ingredients like retinol or peptides are more effective in the long term.

checkbox

What is the recommended frequency of use for a collagen mask?

For Korean sheet masks, 1 to 2 uses per week is generally recommended, leaving them on for 20 to 30 minutes. Some intensive masks (like sleeping masks) can be used nightly. The key is to follow the manufacturer's instructions and observe your skin's tolerance during the first few uses.

checkbox

Is a collagen mask compatible with retinol?

checkbox

What are the real-time results with a collagen mask?

The hydrating and surface-smoothing effect is visible from the first use and generally lasts 24 to 48 hours. A lasting effect on firmness or reduction of visible wrinkles requires regular use over several weeks, combined with other active ingredients.

Promises of spectacular results from the first application should be viewed with caution; no topical treatment can structurally fill a deep wrinkle.
